Creepy but yummy 'eye ball alien cake'

Creepy but yummy ‘eye ball alien cake’

Welcome to Christmas 2013 the Old School Bakehouse!

Christmas 2013 is nearly here. We have been busy developing delicious new preserves and herb jellies. They taste delicious and look gorgeous. Made from local fruit and herbs from our garden in Itchenor they make perfect presents for all your family and friends.

Cakes and puddings made to order and delivered to your door. The perfect gift or treat for you and the family. 40 years of baking experience using Grandmother’s recipes.

Little cakes, big cakes, cup cakes, brownies, flapjacks, Christmas cakes, Christmas puddings we bake it with love and care. It  will taste delicious and look great. You won’t find thick rubbery icing or much butter cream. What you will find is boozey, moist, gooey fruit cakes and light, fluffy sponges. All finished with juicy glistening fruits, shiny chocolate ganaches using top grade chocolate, zingy lemon glace icing, cream cheese and marscapone frostings and lots of fresh fruits. The best of every ingredient, natural, pure and irresistible.  Love Cakes to make you happy.

Old School Bakehouse is revving up for Christmas. For 2013 we are again using our own candied peel and home made orange marmalade in our cakes and puddings. We also have some home made marmalade to sell as gorgeous gifts. Here are the glittering peels, a fruity mix of orange, lemon and grapefruit, gently drying beside the aga.

In October 21013 we had lots of  fun with lemon sponge.

This Alien Eyeball cake was a bit freaky but the lemon drizzle base filled with home made damson jam and coated in lemon icing and coconut jelly ‘eye balls’  won over even the most squeemish trick or treaters.

We also baked a very special birthday cake for a pregnant friend. At the right moment the Boobs squirted cream over the birthday girl and her guests. It was very funny. Another lemon based masterpiece which was devoured in no time, not a crumb was left.

We’re thinking fluffy yellow chicks and chocolate eggs at the bakehouse. It’s time for a traditional Easter Simnel cake. Here is one we baked for the “New Park Cinema annual film quiz”. Rich fruit cake with a marzipan finish.
